Instructions for using the DRBD package repository

Debian GNU/Linux

This is the DRBD 8.4.x package repository for Debian GNU/Linux. To add DRBD packages to your configuration, please add the following line to your /etc/apt/sources.list file:

deb http://packages.linbit.com/<hash>/8.4/debian squeeze main

... where <hash> must be replaced with the 40-character access hash you received by email when your support contract was enabled. You will not be able to gain access to the repository if you enter an invalid access hash, or one that is associated with a support contract that has expired.

[Tip]Tip

Your access hash should be visible in your browser's address bar at this time.
If not, try to log in via my.linbit.com or contact Linbit sales or technical support as appropriate.

Now, you may download the DRBD package signing key and add it as a trusted key to your APT configuration:

gpg --keyserver subkeys.pgp.net --recv-keys 0x282B6E23
gpg --export -a 282B6E23 | apt-key add -

Next, update and fetch package information from all configured sources, including the DRBD package repository:

apt-get update

Now, you may install the drbd8-utils package, and a drbd8-module package that matches your running kernel. To do so, issue:

apt-get install drbd8-utils drbd8-module-`uname -r`

Of course, other than apt-get, you may also aptitude, synaptic, or any other package management front-end of your choice.

Once installed, when new DRBD packages become available, you may update them as any other APT-managed package on your system. Simply issue

apt-get update

and then:

apt-get upgrade

Just as with package installation, package updates may also be performed using any other APT package management utility.

If you need DRBD 8.3 packages, please use the 8.3 repositories..
